anagrams.. you know what they are.. they are a type of word play (Greek ana- = "back" or "again", and graphein = "to write"), the result of rearranging the letters of a word or phrase to produce other words, using all the original letters exactly once. the "aim of the game" is to discover a result that has a meaning on the original that is humourous or maybe ironic.
an example? The Morse code = Here come dots, or Celine Dion = No, I decline (omg! lol). or a more sophisticated one, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow ~ Worrisome However Beneath". beautiful.
anyway, the romans and greeks worshipped them, often using anagrams as divine messages and truth. they studied them and thought they held mystical properties. It is therefore upsetting and terribly unclimatic to learn that the anagram of my name spells Icemen Idol or (gasp!) Demonic Lie.. my twin.. (omg!)Bed Lice Teen.. haha. at least thats funny.

a warrant officer's dad passed away, his dads funeral was yesterday. if that wasnt devastating enough, his mom had a heart failure at the funeral and died in the hospital. to make things worse, he's the only son and hes not married. what a curveball.

sometimes you just dont know what to say to comfort a person or make things better. no "look on the bright side of things", no "things will get better" will do. you can only sit down with him, nod in acknowledgement and share the sentiment that its ok to be sad cause that just sucks.

a friend said mortality is part of life.. is it? its more like the only great tragedy. count your blessings man.

if everytime i thought of you,

i muttered your name under my breath,

the whole world would have

known your name by now.

south yarra, only 2 stops away from central melbourne by train, is pretty damn beautiful.

along chapel street, there're niche clothing shops and cafes and pubs, selling salads, and pizzas and pastries. real food food.. not just pretty food. or if you're just in for a cappucino or a beer, you could do that. and you'll be tempted to.. cause the cafes are just really beautiful. if thats a word to describe cafes. or the irish pub. you'll appreciate the sun amid the 15 degree weather. and it isnt as crowded as central melbourne, or busy, or as many asian students..

i want to live there... pretty sure the rent is cheaper than where i am currently.

its also a pretty well known gay place. saw a few couples holding hands down the street.

found the gay bookstore chris mentioned. near the junction of commercial and chapel st. a whole bookstore full of gay books. and this coming from a gay boy whose previous excess to gay literature was a small shelf in Taka kinokuniya called the Alternative Literature 'section' i found at 16 or 17. i knew that shelf well. at the risk of sounding like a raving lunatic, i studied its nooks and crannies, its new additions and recognisable familiars, mainstays, taking note of which i had, which didnt interest me, which i would get soon. its was also all that i had in connection with the gay world, my window, if you will, without being a part of the gay world itself. i didnt understand and wasnt interested in the mirc, clubbing etc. and at that age, that shelf and its books were it. there was some innocence to that. they stopped the AL section in kino a few years ago. i should have been there to send it off. place a flower or pop a champagne.

at south yarra, i didnt know what to buy. i was spoilt for choice.

dont really know what to write.. but i'll try to write something.. trying hard to catch up with maths and chemistry. (maths is kicking my ass, yo) bio is easy, considering ive never take it before in my life and i'm actually scoring.

people at school are ok.. hanging out with the off-center people. haha. cause im kinda off myself.

I hate the singaporeans man. the girls bitchy and gossipy and look down other asians "like yo, i ain't speaking to you indo girl, cook me some indo mee, muahaha! and you, honkie, singapore has cleaner air yo. go back to loi yan kai mmkay?!" and the guys are ignorant and only interested in impressing the singaporean bimbos. argh.. so superficial man. i know we are from the same country but right now they dont seem like they're from planet earth. they really DO seem like they're from another planet.. and the point of coming to another country is to get to know people from other countries right? i know i should but i really don't care to be around them.

i need my singaporean friends from home. i can imagine how much fun it would be to start school with friends from home. old times, man, old times.. glenn, xian, william et all in same class? would be SO fun.. but im dreaming.

so i hang out with the motley crew of mish mash outcasts. :)

thinking back, i dont think i ever fit in to the main demograph. im glad ive learnt to stop trying.

school isnt so bad at all.

only when you're away from home does the simple pleasures of a bowl of warm soup or a home made meal becomes apparant.

2 days ago, i was cooking steak and i set off the smoke alarm -_-''
i panicked, cause i remembered the landlord tell me that if the fire truck comes, i'll have to pay a fine of $1600. anyway, luckily i had a friend with me at that time and he started fanning the smoke detector.. haha. apparently, the fire truck would only come after the alarm has beeped for like 2 mins..

Finally, FINALLY! managed to watch Maurice (circa 1989) on dvd.. after reading the book at age 17.. fantastic.. Seeing the final boathouse scene was like meeting an old friend i'm long heard/read about and know so well.

Discovered an obscure korean hairdresser whos A - plus. go me! good hair days ftw.

Mime test. i never laughed so hard in a long time.

and finally...
to commemorate my ord,

And when he gets to Heaven,
To Saint Peter he will tell:
One more soldier reporting sir,
I've served my time in Hell.

for those of you who sent me off at the airport: thanks.. :) i love you all so much.
i've settled down, the dust is gone.. got a place of my own, i know my way around school and the city, i go to the victoria market on weekends to buy groceries and fresh food and make my own dinners. rice is so bothersome to cook!

i didnt post sooner cause.. i didnt want to write about melbourne and jinx it and start missing home badly. but this has been a lovely place.

this is something i came to a full realisation to when i was walking home one dark cold night.
1) I have fully ORDed! yay! (triple back flip somersault).
2) This is home for now.
