so an anti-pronography bill in Jakatar is being reviewed in jakatar. right. with thousands thronging the streets last week attesting their approval for it for fear of it being rejected. Although most of the nation's Muslims are moderate, some Islamic-based political parties say "globalisation is chipping away at the country's moral fibre". hahah. right.. way to go, blaming globalisation for the moral decay of men.

so THE BIG COVER UP of literature and art would make the muslims fervently supporting the bill seem all the more morally upright? please.. Public flogging of girls, harassing of females who appear in streets after ten, on the assumption that they're soliciting. besides it getting me hopping mad, is that a step in the right direction for society? ok, so indonesia could seem like a sea and a jungle away, but it's really close considering the ridiculous ideas the othodox muslim men are perpetuating. one shudders to thinking of indonesia should ever turn to sariah law.

I could imagine stuffy old men in parliament thumping their chest in showy moral righteousness, saying all feminine forms be outlaws lest they be tempted, women, hummph! the devil's advocate!!

so you ban kissing, you punish women and make them wear formless garbs from head to toe, prohibit drinking, dancing and singing. okie.. you're on the express train to your heaven alright. way to go!

and the ridiculous bill bring with it the ban on kissing in public, "public displays of women's sensuality" and with it traditional art forms and dances eg. woman in papua dance topless in local traditions. the traditional balinese dance forms could also be outlawed. It also regulates how women should dress.

erm, question please. so who checks the men? what happened to the human rights/women rights activists? stand up to these people.

gotta go now, back to camp :/
